Dr. Courtney Smith grew up in Portland, Oregon and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Cellular Biology. She then went on to graduate from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.
Courtney completed a one year rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, followed by a three-year cardiology residency in cardiology at Oregon State University. In 2016, she became a board-certified cardiologist as well as completed a Master’s degree in veterinary science. Her research focus was congenital heart disease in French and English bulldogs, valvular pulmonic stenosis, and minimally invasive treatment options.
Courtney enjoys managing congenital and acquired heart disease in all animals as well as developing close bonds with her patients and their families. When she is not working, Courtney enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with her husband and children, as well as their four-legged family members— a French bulldog who was diagnosed and treated for pulmonic stenosis and two Sphynx cats.
