Capital Area Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks dedicated in the fight to end hunger. Capital Area Food Bank sorts and packs thousands of pounds of food that is then distributed throughout the community.

Days End Horse Rescue — http://www.defhr.org/
Non-profit sheltering service for horses. Day End Horse Rescue offers rehab services, training and adoption services. They also offer educational programs and internships for experiential learning.

DC Central Kitchen — https://dccentralkitchen.org/
Dedicated to fight hunger, DC Central Kitchen transforms wasted food into balanced meals. The prepared meals are then delivered to the community, including homeless shelters and after school programs.

Friends of Homeless Animals — https://foha.org
Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) – FOHA is a no-kill shelter.  FOHA rescues abandoned, abused and forgotten dogs and cats to get a second chance at a life…and a loving family.  FOHA provides food, shelter, medical care, rehabilitation and compassion to each dog and cat that enters their care. CVCA sponsors one cat and one dog per month.

House with a Heart — https://housewithaheart.com/
A non- profit sanctuary for senior dogs and cats that have lost their homes through no fault of their own. House with a Heart provides the care and safe environment they need until they can find a new home to can call their own again.

Inova Fairfax Hospital For Children
We support the children from Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children each year at their Cardiac Reunion Picnic, where we provide gifts and carousel rides, and invite our canine patients who have had heart surgery, many of them the same exact procedure as the children. (Include photo and logo)

Kisima Academy, Naitiri, Kenya
In the past few years, CVCA has sponsored several orphans at Kisima Academy in Naitiri, Kenya. They are all doing very well.  Their new school year in Kenya starts in January and the students are all very excited for the coming year.  Over the past 12 months, there has been great progress at the school/orphanage including completion of a free standing preschool building and upgrading the electricity from solar to a combination of solar and “grid” based power.

Grab a shoebox and fill it with kindness. Operation Christmas Child takes donated items into shoeboxes and delivers them to children around the world bringing them hope and joy. But, that’s not all, Operation Christmas Child is part of the Greatest Journey Program that delivers a message of faith to each child who receives a shoebox gift.

In the fight against hunger, Soup Kitchen provides a hot meal to those in need.

Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation’s Disaster Relief fund helps veterinarians care for animals in Texas and for the animals that were displaced or injured by Hurricane Harvey.

Supporting our staff

Each member of our team has a huge heart and loves to help people and animals! CVCA provides paid volunteer time to the charity of choice for all of our staff.
