Careers for Doctors

CVCA began as Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates (CVCA) with a single cardiologist in a small strip mall location in Glendale, Maryland in 1987. Our residency program was founded in 1995 to train future cardiologists, all of whom still practice with us today. As our company grew, we geographically distanced ourselves outside of the Chesapeake Bay region, and thus we changed our name to the acronym CVCA. Through CVCA’s dedication to a high level of care and service to the community, we have grown into the nation’s largest veterinary cardiology group with 14 board certified cardiologists and one resident in 12 full-service locations. We pride ourselves in ensuring an excellent quality of life to all team members and work every day to maintain our exceptional reputation.

From the beginning, our focus has always been on creating the best possible experience and outcome for cardiac patients and their families. We know that first-rate service and care can only be delivered through the best people, and we have focused on creating an optimal work environment with team members who share our core values of compassion, excellence and integrity. This is how we built a team who is committed to offering excellent patient care and superior service to our patients, clients and referring veterinarians. It is our privilege to partner with primary care veterinarians throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to offer the highest level of care for pets with cardiovascular disease.

CVCA Culture

Although our company is constantly growing, we never lose sight of the importance of our distinctive and highly valued culture. Our culture is unsurpassed in the veterinary industry. Every member of CVCA is committed to offering optimal patient care and superior service to our referring vets and associated departments. We encourage employees to share their new, innovative ideas to improve our company. Our focus is on excellence, continuous improvement, and fun. CVCA is a values-driven organization that is committed to an exceptional work environment with all team members dedicated to personal and organizational development.

Collaborative, Expert Care

Our group of 15 cardiologists allows for a team approach to complicated cases and ample time off to maintain a high quality of life as well as support interests outside of veterinary medicine. CVCA is an ACVIM approved residency training program. We strive to maintain academic standards with weekly journal and case rounds as well as didactic instruction of our residents. All 12 CVCA sites are located within multidisciplinary specialty and emergency practices, allowing for collaborative and optimal care of patients with the support of board certified criticalists, oncologists, internists, surgeons, neurologists, and ophthalmologists among other specialists. The expertise of our cardiologists is supported top of the line new Philips Epiq 5 echocardiography units, cath lab and digital radiography.

Relationships with Referral Community and Clients

With a 27 year history of strong partnerships with primary care veterinarians, CVCA enjoys an exceptional culture of referral. Our clientele is committed to offering the highest level of care to their pets and we are grateful to partner with so many primary care practitioners to deliver high-quality care. CVCA actively contributes to the communities that we are involved in through educational programs, volunteer efforts, and support of local organizations.
