Rachel Conway

Dr. Conway is seeing patients at our Fairfax, VA location.

Dr. Rachel Conway grew up in Boulder, Colorado, where she spent much of her time outdoors riding horses and hiking. She attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Go Badgers!) where she studied Zoology and Conservation Biology. After graduation, she took a year away from school to work at the Denver Zoo before beginning veterinary school at Colorado State University in the fall of 2018. During veterinary school, Dr. Conway pursued her passion for exotic animal medicine by participating in numerous research projects. Along the way, however, she discovered a love for cardiology and ultimately chose to pursue it as her specialty.

After earning her veterinary degree from Colorado State University, Dr. Conway moved to Gainesville, Florida, to complete a rotating internship at the University of Florida. She then remained at the University of Florida to complete a residency in Cardiology, which she finished in July 2026. During her residency, Dr. Conway was actively involved in clinical research and the teaching of veterinary students and interns. Her research focused on cardiology in bats, including establishing normal echocardiographic measurements for the species. Her primary clinical interests include the management of chronic congestive heart failure and arrhythmias, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease in exotic species.

Outside of work, Dr. Conway enjoys spending time outdoors, mostly hiking, skiing, paddleboarding or simply taking a walk around town. Her favorite indoor activities include reading, painting, and spending time with her two cats, Leo and Reggie. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Conway is excited to bring her cardiology expertise to CVCA and serve pets and their families throughout Northern Virginia!
