Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologists for Your Pet

An established leader in veterinary cardiac care, CVCA is comprised of a team of board certified veterinary cardiologists, cardiology residents, technicians and assistants who work together with you and your family veterinarian to achieve the highest level of care for your pet.

CVCA is the world’s largest veterinary cardiology service. As such, our responsibility is to provide the most advanced cardiac care available to the community. Our vast experience, highly specialized training, and collaborative efforts provide state-of-the-art cardiac diagnostics, medical therapy, and interventional treatments for a wide variety of cardiac diseases.

Our board certified cardiologists have completed three to five years of post doctoral training after graduation from veterinary school including a residency in cardiology and two years of extensive examinations.  The doctors of CVCA are Diplomates of theAmerican College of Veterinary Internal Medicine within the College of Cardiology (www.acvim.org).  Our commitment to education includes training of veterinary students, interns and our cardiology residency program. We value this high level of and specialization as well as our individual talents, strengths and diversity.  Our goal is to advance the understanding and treatment of the disease processes that affect veterinary cardiac patients, ultimately improving the quality and length of their lives.  Our commitment comes from the passion that we all share for preserving the human-animal bond.

Each year, CVCA performs over 10,000 non invasive premium echocardiograms to provide the most accurate diagnosis for cardiac disease.  We use the Philips Ie33 intelligent echocardiography systems with live 3D echo imaging to achieve superb image quality.  Our cardiologists use this equipment to provide timely and more precise diagnosis which can translate to earlier detection and treatment for your pet.  Most echocardiograms are performed with the family present to aid in the explanation of the disease process, as well as to allow you to comfort your pet.  Pets are very rarely shaved or sedated for this procedure.  If your pet is having a heart rhythm abnormality, an ECG and/or a 24 hour holter monitor may also be recommended.   The findings will be explained thoroughly during your visit and a complete report will be sent the same day to your family veterinarian.  You will also receive a report detailing the diagnosis, treatment plan and follow up care.

CVCA serves as an extension of your primary care veterinarian and offers your pet optimal care through regular communication with you and with your family veterinarian. CVCA doctors are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for telephone consultations.  We welcome your questions and progress reports after the visit.

Please bring any medical records, current medication, blood test results, ECG or X-rays that have recently been performed on your pet. This prevents unnecessary repetition of previously performed tests.

CVCA understands how important your pet is to your family.  We appreciate the opportunity to work with your veterinarian to provide you, and your pet with optimum care.
